Sold responsibly, under licence
It is an offence to sell or supply alcohol to, or to procure alcohol on behalf of, a person under the age of 18 years.
Brewstarter is strictly for people aged 18 and over.
Licence
All alcohol available through Brewstarter is sold under a New Zealand off-licence held by the operating licensed brewery (Sunshine Brewery and/or Three Sisters Brewery).
The licence permits the sale of intoxicating liquor to purchasers aged 18 years or over, in accordance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
Age verification
An age verification gate appears on first visit to the site. We may refuse service and require evidence of age at any point in the purchase process.
If we have reason to believe a purchaser is under 18, or is purchasing on behalf of a person under 18, the sale will not proceed.
Host responsibility
Brewstarter and its operating breweries follow host responsibility principles. We encourage moderate, responsible consumption and provide information to help purchasers make informed choices.
For support and information about alcohol and your wellbeing, visit the Health Promotion Agency at alcohol.org.nz.
Refusal of service
We reserve the right to refuse service, cancel commitments, or decline proposals at our discretion, including where we believe a sale would breach our licence conditions or the law.
